Join us for our 20th Great American Beer Festival!! It’s hard to believe it has been that long since Chris and Steve opened the doors on the Rock for the biggest beer festival around.
In true Falling Rock Fashion we will be kicking off the week right on Monday, October 3rd when the countdown clock reaches 00:00:00 at 5pm! 22 Awesome beers will be tapped into, launching us into the most wonderful week of the year.
The first of these 22 beers is a special one to us. For the 3rd year in a row, Chris and Beth went up to Upslope Brewing’s Lee Hill facility to brew with Charlie, Sam and Luke from Upslope. CJ, long-time (she was the first hire!!) employee of Falling Rock also came along and brewed her first beer! Upslope/FR Tropical Pale is an easy-drinking 5% pale ale hopped with Motueka, Galaxy and Nelson Sauvin.
The second of the 22 beers is also special in its unique way: brewed at Spangalang Brewery in Five Points with Austin and Taylor (formerly of Great Divide) and Falling Rock bartender Bryan (yes, that Bryan, CJ’s Husband!) this is one special brew. Bryan’s first brew ever, A Fortnight in France (also Chris’ favorite modern jazz album by Patricia Barber) is a double IPA aged on French Oak spirals for two weeks and comes in around 8% abv. Hence the name….
Chris also has spent weeks (months in some cases) picking beers to tap on our Rotating Tap List of 20 unique handles.

We’re turning 20 this June and are celebrating in the best possible way: Great Food, Great Friends, and GREAT BEER!! If you were here for our 10th Anniversary you’ll recognize the idea: Chris has been busy brewing beers with some of our favorite breweries and old friends to customize the special tappings. We’re going ten days straight again, with several days tapping both a beer brewed in Colorado and one from elsewhere in the US.
We’re kicking the festivities off with a Dual Tapping on Friday, June 2 at 5:30pm: reprising their role from TEN years ago, Dry Dock Brewing will be sailing in with Chris’ homage to Mr. Hoppy, the beer he planned on tapping to kick off the 10th Anniversary. We are also thrilled to welcome our friends from San Diego as we tap into the Alpine/Green Flash/Cellar 3 brew We Were Here First! This was the first of the anniversary beers Chris brewed, a big, amazing and truly unique collaboration.

Our last day of the celebration, Sunday June 11th, will feature a very special tapping of an extremely limited beer Chris brewed at Bristol Brewing in Colorado Springs.
All Weekday Brews will tap at 5:30pm, with Weekend Brews tapping at 2pm. As the beers arrive in town/at the bar and travel plans are confirmed we will finalize the schedule of events and announce which Brewery will be tapped on which day. Of course Twitter and Facebook will have continual updates as well, but we will update events here on the website each day as well.
One of the absolute best things about this celebration is spending time with the PEOPLE! Brewers, Owners, Brewery Representatives, fellow Publicans, Regulars who are a massive reason we are here, friends from around the country and around the World are coming in to celebrate with us. We can’t thank you enough for all of the love and support you have provided over the last two decades. We can’t wait to see you, raise a pint and share some stories!!
