Get Younger 2/22 and 2/23!

We will be tapping PTY on Saturday, February 22 and Sunday the 23 at 1pm.

Doors will open at our usual time of 11am. We will be issuing Tickets that allow you to purchase a glass of Pliny the Younger as people arrive. Rowdon will be checking ID’s (photo id, passport, have it ready folks!) and Beth will be passing out the tickets. They will both be stamping hands: you needs the stamps and the tickets to get the beer! There will be 2 colors of tickets; if you get the first color relax, sit down, start a tab, get something to eat & a warm-up beer or two, you’re getting a Younger. The second color, well, Maybe. When it comes time to tap Younger, we’ll sell it to all of the folks with the first color, if you are seated & have a tab with a server, you can stay seated because the server will bring it to you. When we finish serving all the folks with the first color we will do a last call for that color ticket then line up the second color tickets in order & start serving those folks. In order to get a Pliny the Younger you need to be here before we do last call for that color of tickets (usually around 25-30 minutes after we start pouring it) or you lose your chance & we give it to the next persons in line. I know it might sound a bit complex, but it’s really simple & has made our Pliny the Younger release days a lot easier, civilized & less stressful for everyone involved. Another way we cut down on stress is the following: open a tab or pay with cash, as we will not run credit cards during the pouring of PtY.

Got Younger? YES WE DO!!

ITS HERE, ITS HERE!! Pliny the Younger has arrived in Colorado! Chris has picked up the kegs and is planning the first tapping for Wednesday, February 19th at 6pm. We will be operating as normal leading up to the tapping so come in early for a table. As with recent PTY trappings tickets will be passed out on a first come first serve basis. Beth will come around to tables and patrons already inside the bar first to make sure you get your ticket so please do not ask the bartenders or servers, they won’t have tickets. One ticket per customer, no you can’t get it for your friend who isn’t there yet but is on their way.

If you have a ticket and a table, stay seated your server will bring you your beer.  If you don’t have a table we will announce when the line will form. We use two different colors of tickets: the first color means you WILL get a PTY, so chill out, no shoving to get in line, it’s all good. The second color means you MAY get a PTY, we hope but are not sure, and will be called to line up after the first round of tickets is complete. The last thing to remind you of is simple; either have a tab open or pay cash, the staff will not close out any credit cards while we are still pouring the keg. It takes too long and prevents others from getting their beer in a timely manner and no one wants to be that guy right? Once the keg blows and the line is finished the staff will be available to close out tabs.

We will be tapping PTY on Saturday, February 22 and Sunday the 23 at 1pm. We will begin passing those tickets out when the bar opens at 11am, please have your photo id ready. The line has been known to begin forming by 9 am, so be prepared, be polite please and we’ll get you the magic ticket and in the doors as quickly as possible. We have already posted the How It Works for Saturday and Sunday, if you want to refresh your memory it can be found at http://fallingrocktaphouse.com/pty-2014-update-to-the-update/

We look forward to seeing you Get Younger with us!!

PtY 2014 Update to the Update!

So it looks like we have a tentative Idea of the PtY release schedule. The plan is that the truck will pick up the order on Friday (2-14) & get to Denver about Tuesday (2-18). IF  all of this works out (remember -Between Santa Rosa, CA & Denver, CO is 1300 miles of driving (18hrs +) & some mountain passes known for poor weather. With good weather it is 3 days of commercial driving (unless driving with a team). When the Beer arrives in Denver it must be unloaded from the truck, entered in inventory & invoiced before being delivered to the Bars it has been allocated to) we will do our 1st release of PtY the next day, Wednesday February 19th at 6pm. This 1st release is tentative, I’ll send out a notice via the website ( which then sends out notice to our Facebook & Twitter) when the kegs are loaded in my truck. If the truck doesn’t arrive on Tuesday, We’ll send out notice & figure out when we can reschedule it (probably the following day Thursday Feb. 20th at the same time). The other release days are a little more definite, we will release PtY on Saturday February 22nd & Sunday February 23rd both days at 1pm.

How it Works: 1st Release

Since we will have been open for many hours, we will wait till 5pm to start issuing Tickets. Other than that, the release will go as described above
